Lighting
Having mood lighting can instantly transform a space. Now this doesn’t have to be a tradition dimmer on your lights, this can be achieved through windows, and switching the bulbs in your light fixtures. Try to stay away from bright white light bulbs and go for a softer warm light. Changing the curtains on your windows can also really dramatically change the tone of the room. For a more formal dining room, go for heavier darker drapes, for a more open and bright space, go for thinner cotton or linen white set of curtains.
Mirrors
Mirrors bounce light around and can make the space feel a lot bigger. I recommend going for either a large mirror or a mirror gallery wall. Larger framed mirrors can be a great traditional choice for a dining space, but choosing to add a fun mirror gallery wall can be a great conversation starter. Custom framed mirrors are a perfect option to match your wall mirrors to the colour and style of the room.
Rug
A large area rug can really bring a whole room together. I recommend sticking to a simple, large and neutral mat. Beiges, creams or greys are great colour choices for a bigger rug. If you choose to go with a print or pattern, I recommend sticking to a simple geometric or abstract pattern.
Table Decorations
So, you’ve decorated the whole room, but the big dining table looks empty. For a classic style, choose between a floral centrepiece with a vase, or a tray with candles, and small accessories. Some other great ideas include a large bowl with some fruit, seasonal decorations and clear vase or jar filled with rocks.
